MedStamp’s Connectivity Portal enables PACS’s and other medical imaging modalities on different networks to securely send and receive medical images in a managed, controlled and compliant environment. Seamless integration between remote PACS’s is managed through a powerful, yet simple to use rules engine. With MedStamp’s Connectivity Portal there is no longer any reason to use CD’s or other physical media to transfer medical data.
MedStamp’s Connectivity Portal has been developed in accordance with industry guidelines and enables compliance with these same regulations. Specific regulatory features include full audit of all activities, account access control and password management, encrypted transfer, flexible DICOM tag de-personalisation and modification. Transmissions can also be accompanied with electronic forms.
Remote connectivity is provided through various modes, or combination of modes of operation. Administrators can manage and monitor the service through MedStamp’s administration interface.
- Passive Mode. Transfers according to predetermined rules.
- Active mode. Transfers as and when directed by an operator.
- Workflow mode. Transfers according to rules established on the server.
- Request mode. Studies released and distributed by the server when all the required infomation has arrived.
Once you have added the Communicator application as a node to your PACS you can leave the application running and forget about it. The Communicator node receives the study via SCU-SCP and automatically forwards the study to a Communicator node on a remote network.
On receipt of a study the remote Communicator can be programmed to perform a variety of tasks depending on certain criteria, such as export to a specific file location, forwarding to DICOM nodes or a MedStamp user group. All this is done through a simple to use graphical user interface.
The receiving Communicator can similarly be instructed to complete tasks on receipt of the study. For example automatically save the study and associated files to a file store, or automatically send the received study to a connected DICOM node.
When studies are saved custom paths can be specified. For example organise studies into folders named after the sender, and then patient ID.
Communicator has a versatile secure patient store which you can load studies into from various different sources:
- From file – either drag and drop or import via a file browser
- DICOM QR
- Remote MedStamp account
Once a study is in the secure store you can send this study to any other registered Communicator node. The receiving Communicator node is configured by the recipient to their requirements.
The person sending images can opt to add a message to the transfer. Alternatively the administrator can specify if transfers require an eForm to be completed.
All studies passing through the Connectivity Portal can have workflow applied to them. This way scheduling, sending to long term storage or distribution rules can be applied to transfers. For example you can specify every study sent from a specific MedStamp account is forwarded to a long term storage node.
Using the Workflow interface the requestor provides details of the study which is required. The slot can also be configured to require other files, such as clerking forms. On receipt the required files are distributed by the server to MedStamp nodes according to the rules established in the workflow engine.
Other features include – automatic retry and error recovery, lossless compression, full real time audit information, optionally digitally signed audit reports, audit export features, advanced DICOM tag de-personalisation and modification, workflow automation and rules.
